For some children and adults the idea of visiting a dentist brings on a major anxiety attack. To them the idea of visiting a dentist seems impossible. Young children often have developed a fear of the dentist from popular culture or their peers. Likewise for some adults, they may have a serious phobia built up over many years, or they might not have the mental capacity to cope with the sensations, or confinement while receiving dental care.
For those patients and their caregivers, we want to offer you a safe and gentle option. Our in-house anaesthetist can administer a mild sedation, it is completely safe. The patient remains awake, but they are in a mental state which is very relaxed and anxiety free, they are partially aware of the dental care they are receiving, but not enough that they get up set by it.
We don't know of any other dentist that can offer that level of care and experience for people with these special needs.
